What it is
Digital printing puts ink directly onto the sheet with no plates, which makes it ideal for short runs, sampling, personalized packaging and fast iterations. Variable data printing also supports unique codes, names and serial numbers on each piece. ZKPACKS uses digital printing for low-quantity cartons, cards, tags and labels where offset setup would not be economical.

Limitations
- — Unit cost stays higher than offset at large volumes
- — Metallic and some white ink effects are limited
- — Ink film is less scratch-resistant than cured offset or UV ink
Production risks
- — Color gamut differs slightly from offset, so brand proofs should use the same method
- — Scuffing on dark solid areas if the print is left uncoated
- — White ink coverage on kraft or colored stock needs verification
Sustainability considerations
Digital printing produces minimal waste for short runs and is compatible with paper-based materials that may be recyclable subject to material specification, local collection infrastructure and any coating applied.
